The Paradox of the Flow of Time
The Paradox of the Flow of Time
We have all heard of the Theory of Relativity, but have we ever truly tried to make sense of it? It is easy to say that the speed of time slows down or accelerates, but what if time remains stationary while we move forward or backward along the space-time axis?
Since we cannot prove the contrary, we can say that this possibility is just as likely as the currently accepted axiom that the speed of time itself changes. Wouldn't you agree?
In fact, let me take it a step further: "What if space-time is moving at the speed of light, and when we approach that speed, we perceive time as slowing down because its relative velocity to us decreases?"
Furthermore, if time appears to slow down relative to us regardless of which direction we move, in which direction does time actually flow? Is time distributed homogeneously, or does it follow a geoid-like structure similar to the shape of the universe? Does time carry energy?
We can attempt to answer each of these questions in turn. For instance, rather than saying time has slowed down, I find it more accurate to say that we have accelerated. Moreover, I find the idea of matter’s velocity within space-time changing more logical than the idea of time being a "meta-entity" that can accelerate or decelerate. I could suggest that time is a dimension of unimaginable magnitude—existing even before the formation of the universe—and while time is contracting inward, the universe formed by the Big Bang is continuously expanding. This expansion is currently in an acceleration phase thanks to the energy remaining from the Big Bang 13.7 billion years ago. Thus, when time contracts sufficiently and the universe expands to its limit, the resulting collision could be what we call the Apocalypse; this is a possibility.
It can never be known in which direction time moves (from the inside out or the outside in). As for whether time carries energy—for us, who do not even know "WHAT" time is, this remains nothing more than an unanswered question.
Nevertheless, these thoughts of mine are ideas that cannot be disproven, yet their truth cannot be proven either. I would be happy if they have been thought-provoking.
