Changes in Mental Structure Caused by Modern Environmental Factors

As we all know, much has changed in the modern era compared to the past. It is inconceivable that these shifts would not lead to significant changes within us. For instance, although many people today do not realize the root cause, they have become incredibly isolated compared to previous generations. To alleviate this loneliness, they have turned to activities such as reading books.

In the past, everyone united around the goal of benefiting society; today, however, the number of people living solely for themselves has increased significantly. Because individuals have begun to view their own existence as worthless, they now merely strive to "kill time" in a world where they live only for their own interests. Consequently, individuals start to perceive life as meaningless.

Naturally, this situation causes shifts in mental structure. People have become much more stagnant. The production of new ideas has slowed down. Perhaps technical knowledge was not as advanced in the past, but people’s capacity for deep thinking was much more developed.

Today, the vast majority of people either do not use their intellect at all or use it only at a minimal level required for basic survival. In such a state, the brain structure cannot produce a sufficient number of new neurons. In fact, our brains are gradually shrinking because while the production of new neurons is insufficient, our needs continue to increase.

As a result, the proficiency level of our brains is steadily declining. The most logical solution to this problem varies from person to person; for some, it may be reading books, while for others, it may be performing mathematical operations or solving puzzles.

In conclusion, if people realize that they are not truly alone, it could serve as a solution for both brain development and the feeling of despondency. The Creator did not state in His book that "God is always with His servants" in vain. He said this so that people might continue their mental development without interruption. It is hoped that we will be among those who reach this realization.
